If you are looking for a model of Christian faithfulness you can find it in St. George. St. George is usually shown killing a dragon which symbolized Satan and saving a maiden who symbolized the church. Later when an emperor issued an order that all Christians who remained true to their faith were to be put to death, St. George remained true to his faithfulness to Christ and for this was tortured and put to death. No wonder St. George is seen as the patron saint against evil, the promoter of chivalry and the defender of the faith. This St. George statue is made of resin and stands 3-1/2 inches tall which is a perfect size to sit in small spaces or just about anywhere you wish to display it. The St. George statue comes in a box with a see through front and includes a prayer card for use when praying for intentions. A wonderful biography of St. George is included on the back of the box. If you know someone going through Confirmation who has chosen the name George for his Confirmation name, the St. George statue might be a nice gift to give him as an example of someone who remained loyal to his faith even when threatened by death. The feast day of St. George is April 23.
