corda mór takes a genuine pride and interest in helping each student achieve their personal best by providing excellent irish dance instruction taught in a challenging and supportive environment. our program is directed by fauna gille, a former champion level dancer who earned entry to the prestigious world championships, and has performed with such renowned irish musicians as the cheiftain's and former riverdance soloist katie mcmahon.

Rince na Chroi (Gaelic for “dance of the heart”) is one of Minnesota’s newest Irish dance schools. Katie Stephens opened the St. Paul-based school in February 2003. Students range in age, from 3 years to adults, and skill levels range from beginner to advanced. Rince na Chroi dancers have performed with well-known musicians like Natalie MacMaster, Eileen Ivers, and Gaelic Storm at venues such as the Guthrie Theater and the Fine Line Music Café. Locally, they participate in numerous Irish cultural events and perform with groups such as Clairseach, 5 Mile Chase and Minnesota Pipes and Drums.

The Shamrock School has been teaching the art of Irish dance since 1973. Classes are held in Bloomington near 98th and 35W and in South Minneapolis. The founder May Buckley hails from Dublin, Ireland and her daughter Rachel has been carrying on the tradition since 1986. Rachel is a certified (T.C.R.G.) instructor by the Commission of Irish Step Dance in Ireland. Dancers enjoy performances and competitions locally and nationally. Shamrocks perform throughout the year around the Twin Cities area and as far away as DisneyWorld. The St. Paul Irish Dancers were founded in 1995 by Eileen Dahil with the goal of providing a gateway to Irish culture through dance. St. Paul Irish Dancers have had the opportunity to perform all over the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota. They present an annual show at O'Shaughnessy Auditorium at the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul and dance each year at the Irish Fair of Minnesota. Their dancers have been privileged to share the stage with numerous Irish music acts including Ring of Kerry, Cherish the Ladies, and The Chieftains.

Cormac's professional career began in 1994 when he was chosen by Michael Flatley to be part of a team of dancers that stunned Europe in the original performance of Riverdance at the Eurovision Song Contest. Cormac danced with Riverdance for over six years, giving more than 2000 performances, across four continents to over two million people. He can be seen in the original film, Riverdance, The Show, in Riverdance at Radio City, Riverdance, A Journey, and The Best of Riverdance. Cormac and his wife, Natalie, met during the first American tour of Riverdance in 1997. They married in 2001 and moved to the Twin Cities area in 2002. Their school offers classes in both Minneapolis and St. Paul.
