Dating back to over 400 years ago, the Claddagh symbol is from Ireland and beloved the world over. This Irish ornament celebrates its meaning and beauty. It was first designed for a wedding ring by a kidnapped sailor from Galway upon his unlikely return where his love was still waiting for him. He included the 3 key elements for a relationship to endure: the heart which represents love, the hands which stand for friendship, and the crown that symbolizes loyalty. Presented with Celtic artistry at its best, lovely endless knotwork encircles the Claddagh on two sides of the Irish ornament and surround the words, "Love, Friendship & Loyalty" plus, "Let love & Friendship reign forever" on the other two sides.

The 3" diameter Irish ornament is topped with a Kelly green ribbon with the word "Ireland" printed in gold along with gold shamrocks in between. Since enduring love is appropriate to celebrate year round, this is a great gift for newlyweds and anniversaries along with Christmas and other special occasions. Crafted with a Victorian technique called, "decoupage," the paper motifs are covered with varnish until a completely smooth surface is achieved.
